OMP-MIS Solutions

Software details
OMP is installed by a team of experienced computer and agronomy experts with sound experience in estate management and a profound knowledge about the oil palm industry.

A typical implementation process

We install OMP within one week!

Yes, that is all the time it takes to get OMP set-up and running!

During the installation process, we will:

  • set-up OMP according to the site-specific conditions of your estate. This will be done in close cooperation with your senior field managers and/or agronomists.

  • train your OMP operators in all aspects of using OMP for data entry, data verification and error checks.

  • enter the basic block data according to the estate lay-out and a first yearly data set with all relevant agronomy data.

Within 2 to 6 month, you can enter all data for a ten year historic period.

We also support you to implement OMP GIS applications for spatial data analysis.

OMP Pre-installation preparations (2-4 weeks prior to the installation) :

We will send you the necessary information and sample data collation forms to prepare everything for the installation:

  • collate the required data sets;

  • set up the computer hardware and software;

  • assign staff as database operators (at least, 2 DBMS operators should be trained);

  • assign a senior field manager or agronomist to act as resource person during the installation. He should know your estate history and lay-out, field management practices, and available data sources;

  • decide on a time slot, where estate and field managers are available to take part in the implementation briefings and discussions.

OMP Implementation (normally 1 week) :

when we arrive in the estate, the normal installation steps are as follows:

  • Introduction of OMP and discussion of the implementation with estate managers, field managers, agronomists and data entry staff;
  • Hardware  and software checks and physical installation of the OMP7 software;
  • Definition/re-evaluation of unit (division) and block structures;
  • Review of the available data sets and verification of data resources;
  • Definition of site-specific setup parameters for OMP (estate and field managers attendance is required);
  • Field checks and evaluation of setup parameters;
  • Verification of estate block structures, GIS links, and set-up classifications;
  • Introduction of OMP to the data entry operators;
  • Data entry: basic estate setup; entering constant data for all blocks;
  • Data entry: completing a record set with all available data for all blocks for the latest year;
  • Data entry: adding data for previous year(s);
  • Evaluating the availability of data and identifying problem areas, like missing or unreliable data;
  • Verification and presentation of the installation to estate and field managers;
  • Discussion of follow-up support.
OMP LAN setup (additional 1 day):

On a local area network, OMP is set up as a client - server application. The installation is done together with your network administrators, and may need another 1 - 2 days to be completed.

OMP set up for GIS and spatial data analysis (about 1 week):

Linking your historic OMP database with a geographical information system (GIS) will definitely be the most powerful extension of your data management and analysis capabilities to be implemented in your estate!

Implementing OMP-GIS links only make sense if the OMP database is already established and complete yearly data sets are entered.

If you already have a GIS setup and running, it takes about one day to link OMP with the GIS, and about one week on site to implement basic maps and to train your GIS staff in using OMP with GIS.

We can also support you in setting up a new GIS section in your estate.

OMP follow - up visits and technical support

Our consultant staff provides technical support, both on-line or via phone, as well as with periodic or urgent visits to your estate, if necessary.

In addition, we try to organize support to our customers in the most efficient way.

We can always provide follow-up visits on demand

Don't waste your money!

The oil palm Industry - as any producer who wants to excel in a competitive markets -  needs highly customized computerized expert and information systems. Database management systems for oil palm estates are not available 'off the shelf'

Every insider knows, that various oil palm companies  have spent month and sometimes years, investing a lot of money on contracts to develop customized software for 'oil palm specific' information management. Very often, this money was lost.

Another common scenario is that senior estate or field managers are forced to help themselves by becoming IT experts. To handle the amount of data they have to deal with and to produce the information they need,  they start to develop their own 'IT' setup  by developing often highly sophisticated and complex individual databases and spreadsheets.

Senior management may receive most of the information they ask for in the short run,  but they will loose long term. If they force their estate and field managers to become self trained IT experts, field management will suffer in the long run.

Using OMP makes all the difference

You can't buy OMP 'off the shelf'.  We insist, that our software is set up and implemented properly, and we provide the necessary support to build up your OMP agronomy database and GIS as a reliable and viable data source for your company. OMP is designed to become your agronomy backbone information system, therefore we care to do it right.

We provide follow up support to train your data entry personnel to do the job, and we also train your senior managers to understand and to use OMP as an expert information system, which enables and supports them to do their actual field work.

However, compared to your other IT solutions, the OMP DBMS is set up and implemented in about one week (at the most competitive costs!).

We also support transfer of existing data.  If you opt for direct data entry, it may take your data entry staff 2-5 month to enter a 10 year history data set of your 10,000 ha estate.

Installing OMP

The initial implementation phase is very crucial for any database system. Agrisoft-Systems strongly emphasizes this point and we include the required implementation support and operator training in our quotations for the OMP package.

When we install OMP in an estate, we analyze the existing data together with the estate managers and agronomists, and then take a decision on the general block structure and the historic data that will be entered into the database. During the installation, OMP will also be set up according to the site-specific conditions of an estate.

OMP MIS installation and basic operator training normally takes one week.

The OMP-GIS link implementation highly depends on your existing ressources. If the GIS software, the basic block boundary maps, and skilled GIS operators are available, the system can be set up in one week.
